Cambodia is a country leaping out of the 19th century into the 21st century. In 1992 when Tim and Wendy arrived in Siem Reap, there was only one telephone for the whole province. Most communication with the outside world was by shortwave radio. Lighting was mostly by kerosene lamp and travel by bicycle. Twelve years later much has changed. One exciting change is the majority of the more than 220 Seventh-day Adventist congregations around Cambodia have DVD players and television sets which are used in evangelism.

This technological situation provides a unique opportunity for extensive lay training to be conducted in the villages using the DVD format for presentation. To this end, SALT Ministries has set a goal to provide Lay training country wide through the use of DVD’s. While this is still a vision for the near future, God has already provided the resources to get the process started, with a computer, capable of handling the video editing, and a professional video camera for recording. Students in the school are learning both filming and editing skills and are working on materials for distributionto worship groups around the country. It is hoped that as they orphanage children develop these multi-media skills, this will lead to developing a TV studio for large scale production of training and evangelistic materials.

We ask you to join us in prayer that God will send us additional harvesters with the skills needed to push ahead with this important work. Through this type of work, God’s people can be strengthened in their faith, better prepared for ministry and all at a minimum of cost.
